Training: Introduction to Agile Software Development
On Thursday 18 November 2004, the day before XP Day Benelux 2004, Agile Systems will organise an introductory course to Agile Software Development in Mechelen (Belgium).
Agile Software Development lets organisations deliver valuable software early. An increasing number of organisations is using or exploring Agile approaches to software and business development.
Objectives
After this one-day course participants will have a understanding of several agile methodologies, sufficient to make improvements in their workplace. Participants will know how they and their organisation can benefit from agile principles and practices. This course enables you to get more out of XP Day Benelux.
Audience
Managers, programmers, and others who want to gain know-how about Agile Software Development principles and practices through dialogue with experts and peers, as well as practical exercises.
Topics
Depending on the participants' backgrounds and interests, a selection of topics will be made:
- Principles and Practices: test driven design, defect prevention, requirements management, refactoring, design patterns, planning, tracking, project evaluation (retrospectives), process customization, scaling agile.
- How to get started with Agile Software Development: Which practices or process is appropriate for my environment? How does agile compare with other software development approaches? Agile experience reports.
The topics will be covered using diverse formats like presentations, games, interactive demonstrations, and exercises.
The course is led by a number of experienced agile software development coaches and session organizers: Marc Evers, Nynke Fokma, Pascal Van Cauwenberghe, Peter Schrier, Rob Westgeest, Vera Peeters, and Willem van den Ende.
